Compost Creeper

We feed the compost pile at least weekly, but it only gets a good turnover every so often. I bought a compost hook a few months ago, but it could get used more often.

This is what happens when the pile is left to its own devices. It starts its own garden, shooting out vines through the wire.

I have no idea what is growing, and there are no blossoms yet, but it looks like there soon will be. Morgan asked me if we would actually eat something that grew out of the heap. Most definitely, if it's edible!

  1. Looks like some kind of squash maybe. YES - I'd eat it. If it grew it means your compost is doing what it should. The plant looks nice and healthy.
Can't wait to see what it is.

    Thanks for your visit. :)

  2. This is so good! I'm thinking some kind of squash. We had lots of veggie plants growing out of the pig pen once when we raised a couple pigs. But the pig manure was so strong the plants were huge, but no fruit.
Have a good Friday. It's going to be really hot and humid here, with some storms.
    B.
